our Craftsmen

Our "tukang perak" or "pandai perak" (master silversmiths) are highly skilled and talented people who craft the silver that defines our Unity 2000 Collection.  They are individually chosen for their abilities with the complexity or particulars of that piece of jewelry.

Our smiths are very self-disciplined and have worked to build strong businesses that combine their highly honed skills with personal charm.  Their Balinese value of family life and ceremony preclude deadlines and completion dates, so that our orders are fashioned around their lifestyle--not our demands.

This value of family is evident in the working conditions of both our master silversmith and pendant craftsman.  Both work from their home with other family members and friends living there.  The master silversmith, father of two and a high school teacher,  handcrafts our rings from his workbench located on the balcony of his home.  All family members, including parents and children over the age of 16, work in silver so the household is full of workbenches.  Our pendant craftsman lives along the East Coast of Bali and also has his workbench situated in his home along with five other adult smiths.  Each of our smiths is paid individually, and each negotiates his price before he takes on an order.

Every ring, pendant, earring, or chain has been created with high intention and regard for that one, individual piece.
